On vacation…

…in a country with wobbly Internet connections (where they exist). The hoar-topt mountains are stark and lovely, the caribou cavort.

I can, at least, announce that I’ve just sold a story to Daily Science Fiction. It has been a long road. This is the thirteenth story I’ve sent them. I always wondered what an acceptance letter from DSF would look like. Finally found out.

I don’t know if DSF is the toughest online sci-fi/fantasy market to crack, although they must be close. The authors they usually publish are real authors, people who have written their own books and whatnot. DSF is, however, one of my favorite online magazines to read. The quality of stories they publish is very high. So I’m honored to have finally bunged one in.

  1. Ahhh! This is my dream, as well. I’ve only been rejected twice by DSF, so it appears I’ll need at least eleven more disappointments. Congratulations! (And thanks for the hilarious interview on Flash Fiction Online. I laughed my way through breakfast.)

  2. DSF are tough; you’d think they’d be easier, since they publish, what is it, 25 stories a month? They’re not as opaque as Clarkesworld, though — I don’t know a single person who’s successfully landed a story there.
The FFO people are a riot; really great to work with, hilarious and snarky.
Do you have writing out there? Can I check it out?
